Thank you to Stockyard Beef for donating 10kg of Stockyard Gold striploin to be auctioned for Zara’s Day, and to Fucheng Woodlands, Westmar for purchasing this for $2500. Combined with donations on the day, we are so thankful to have raised $3000 for the Zara’s Day charities - the Steve Waugh Foundation and the Royal Flying Doctor Service - Queensland Section.

Thank you to all buyers, underbidders and to the incredible team who helped us make it a reality, and to C J Houston Construction for their amazing work in creating our yards and sale complex this year.

Queensland Country Life Sale Report Extract:

Greg Peck, Purtora, Blackall was the satisfied repeat buyer who secured Minister, along with another two bulls on the day. He has been impressed with the forage ability of the Sandon Glenoch Angus bulls, which have worked well in his environment. The Angus premium and market flexibility are also important factors behind his breeding decisions.

Minister was sired by a homebred son of LT Driven in Glenoch Kembla K305, and was bred from one of the herd’s best cows, Glenoch-JK Ann C102. C102 boasts fertility data of nine calves for an average calving interval of 364 days, and featured in the pedigree of another four bulls in the sale. She is also the great grand-dam of lot 19, Glenoch-JK Makahu M602, who was withdrawn after being sold prior to the sale for $25,000 to Glatz’s Black Angus, Avenue Range, South Australia.

MAKAHU M602 SELLS INTERSTATE FOR $25,000

In 2018, we sold Glenoch-JK Makahu M602 to Glatz Black Angus, Avenue Range, South Australia for $25,000 prior to auction.

They have since sold a 50% physical share to Mandayen Angus for $20,000. He is now one of Australia's highest rated Angus sires for semen sales, and is marketed globally by Agri-Gene.

Glatz's first sons of M602 sold at auction in February 2021, with 13 bulls averaging $13,923, and selling to a top of $18,000 twice.

M602 has been a standout since he was a young calf. He exhibits all the proven characteristics of his maternal grand sire, Glenoch Hinman H221. Beautiful skin type, fast growth, balanced at every angle, fantastic temperament, and he goes further to add extra softness and scrotal size.

His pedigree is first class, and in particular his maternal pedigree. K615, F606, C102 are magnificent looking cows, who always calve early. The maternal granddam of C102 is Wattletop Ann P55. Lock Rogers rates this GT Maximum cow as one of his best, having produced 63 progeny and grossing around $170,000 in bull sales.
