Open Day 2026

JK Cattle Company is hosting an Open Day at "Camilaroi West", Condamine on Friday 10th July 2026.

We have secured several keynote speakers for the day, who will present on key topics focused on improving productivity and efficiency, including tropical pasture management, genetics and cattle nutrition.

With so many factors outside of our control in today’s operating environment, we felt it important and timely to bring the focus to the areas that we can influence to improve margins.

A highlight of the day will be the opportunity to inspect the sale bulls, which will be penned for viewing. There will be plenty of time throughout the day to look through the bulls in a relaxed, low-pressure environment ahead of sale day.

The day is free to attend, and morning tea and lunch will be provided with our compliments. We just ask that you submit your RSVP by completing the form below, which will assist us with planning catering.

Founder & Agronomist, Pastures to Prosperity

Ross Newman is the founder of Pastures to Prosperity, an agricultural consultancy business focused on helping beef producers build productive, resilient pasture systems. Ross started his career on the Western Darling Downs in the early 2000s, giving him a strong connection to the region and its production challenges.

With more than 25 years’ experience in pasture agronomy, seed selection, establishment, grazing management and beef production systems, Ross works with producers to turn rainfall and sunlight into high-quality pasture that can be efficiently harvested by livestock. His approach is practical and production-focused, improving soil health, lifting animal performance, and building resilience into grazing businesses.

Andrew Byrne

Program Manager – Genetics Commercial Services, Meat & Livestock Australia

Andrew is responsible for the overall performance of the genetics commercial services within MLA’s interest, including Sheep Genetics, BREEDPLAN, and emerging genomic tools, through implementing appropriate strategies, business models and commercial delivery pipelines.

Born and raised on a mixed cattle, sheep and cropping enterprise in southern NSW, Andrew has spent more than 20 years in various roles associated with the delivery of genetic improvement technologies to the beef, sheep, dairy and goat industries, both in Australia and abroad, with roles at Neogen Australasia, Angus Australia, and the Agricultural Business Research Institute.

Andrew has also held several industry positions, including Chair of the BREEDPLAN Technical Liaison Group, and has served as a member of both the BREEDPLAN Advisory Committee, and National Livestock Genetics Consortium.

Roger Sneath

Senior Extension Officer (Beef), Department of Primary Industries

Read Roger's Bio

Roger Sneath is a beef extension officer with the Department of Primary Industries based in Toowoomba. He has a background encompassing cattle nutrition, beef production systems, and economics with a focus on enhancing sustainable and profitable beef production.

Roger has worked across a range of projects in Northern and Southern Queensland such as trialling early weaning at Greenvale, investigating sodium and sulphur deficiency on the red basalt country north of Hughenden and delivering EDGE nutrition training across Queensland.

He is currently a key member of the Grazing Futures Prepare & Prosper project working together with graziers in the area of business resilience and drought preparedness.
